JPG, PNG, and WebP to PDF

This guide explains format choice, page size, orientation, and transparency when building a PDF from images. It matches what theJPG to PDF tool on this site actually accepts and produces.

When JPG, PNG, and WebP fit

  • JPG / JPEG — everyday photos and camera shots. No transparency. Smaller files for continuous-tone images.
  • PNG — screenshots, UI captures, diagrams, or any image that needs a sharp edge or an alpha channel.
  • Still WebP — web images already saved as WebP. Animated WebP is rejected; export a still frame first.

GIF, HEIC, BMP, and SVG are not accepted. You can mix JPG, PNG, and still WebP in the same PDF.

Original size versus A4 or Letter

Original image size makes each PDF page match the image’s pixel width and height. Nothing is cropped or padded. Use it when the PDF should keep the same proportions as the photo or screenshot.

A4 or Letter fits each image onto that paper size inside a half-inch margin, keeping proportions and centering the image. Unused page area is white. Prefer this when someone will print the PDF or expect standard paper.

How orientation affects the page

On A4 or Letter you can choose Portrait, Landscape, or Auto. Auto uses a landscape page only when the image is wider than it is tall. Portrait and Landscape force that paper orientation regardless of the image. On Original image size, the page shape follows the image itself. A JPEG with a camera orientation tag is turned upright before embedding; other rotations are not applied automatically.

What happens to transparent images

On Original image size, transparent areas of a PNG or still WebP stay transparent in the PDF. On A4 or Letter, those areas are filled with the white page background. JPEG has no transparency channel.

Combining several images into one PDF

Add multiple images, reorder them with the arrows, and convert. Each image becomes one page, in list order. Example: three PNG screenshots of a form become a three-page PDF named images.pdf. A single image keeps its file name with a .pdf extension instead.

Limits for this tool: each image 75 MB or smaller; up to 50 images and 200 MB per batch; images larger than 16000 pixels on a side, or more than 80 million pixels, are rejected. Text in a photo stays part of the picture — it is not turned into selectable PDF text.
